The Pieces

Built around one blue

Every Archive I piece begins with a natural blue sapphire, circled by diamonds and secured in 18k gold.

Every sapphire in the edition is matched to the others. Same blue. Same depth. Put two Archive I pieces side by side and they look like they were cut from the same stone.

Once the edition closes, no one will ever be able to buy it again.

Eight million people. Just 147 pieces.

Archive I is released in New York and nowhere else. Not London. Not Paris. Not even New Zealand, where it was designed.

That’s one piece for every 58,000 New Yorkers.

You could walk this city for years and never see another one. And if you ever do, you’ll both know exactly what you’re looking at.

WHY 150

In 1992, a British anthropologist found the limit to how many people you can really know.

Robin Dunbar was studying primates when he noticed a pattern. The larger the brain, the larger the social group.

He wondered whether the same was true of us. Across history, villages, farming communities and army units kept settling near the same number: 150. Years later, he studied Christmas card lists. The average was 153.

The idea is simpler than the research. Think of the people you could sit down with unannounced. Not people you recognize. Not people you follow. People you actually know.

For most of us, there are about 150. Beyond that, a circle becomes a crowd.

We liked the idea of keeping something small enough to know who is part of it.

So we chose 150 for Archive I.

150 pieces. Three designs. Every owner recorded in The Register.

A PROMISE WE MADE BEFORE THE FIRST PIECE

We could make more. We won't.

The number was fixed before a single piece was made, and it will not move. To make 300 would be to break our word to the first 150.

When Archive I closes, the three designs are retired, the files deleted and the molds destroyed. There will never be another.

No. 001 stays with Henry Francis. It will not be sold, to anyone, at any price.

A circle only means something if it has a limit.

DESIGNED IN New Zealand. RELEASED IN NEW YORK.

Made in tomorrow.

When New York sleeps, New Zealand is already living tomorrow.

Nearly 9,000 miles away, and 16 to 18 hours ahead, we're designing in a day that hasn't reached Manhattan yet.

It's a different perspective. Far from the noise, the expectations, and what everyone else is doing.

Here, we make things worth waiting for.

150 pieces. Three designs. The first three stay with us in New Zealand. The remaining 147 begin their story in New York.

Designed where no one is watching. Worn where everyone is looking.

Others will find Henry Francis in the years ahead. Some will come to own our work. None of them will be first.

Right now, the next number is No. 002
